A Labour of Love

It had been a hard, back-breaking week at Buddhist Fellowship, what with many many boxes to pack and move to our new home at Yeo’s building from Poh Ern Shih temple, during our relocation.

By Saturday 17th April, most of that was done. What was left to move however was perhaps the most important item, the symbolic heart of BF: our Buddha statue. It was also the hardest to shift.

BF had called on many volunteers to help us, both in the moving of the statue and the unpacking at Yeo’s Building that Saturday, in time for the first Sunday service at our new premises, and it must be said, we weren’t disappointed! Many turned up early Saturday morning, some by 7-8am.

By around 10am that morning the statue had been placed and cleaned. Lamps were lit, fruits and flowers offered devoutly to the Great Teacher, with a simple but touching service led by VP, Resource Development, Jerry Ong, before moving on to other tasks.

Everyone worked industriously to ensure everything was in place by evening. Diligent Jerry’s generous and delicious lunch and dinner offering to all volunteers provided much needed fuel to complete the sometimes strenuous tasks! It was truly a beautiful team effort by a family of Dhamma brothers and sisters.

An especial thank you is in order to Poh Kay Boon of Poh Tiong Choon Ltd for providing transportation and labour for the shifting of the Buddha statue. BF also thanks Jackie Fok of Home Pools Specialist Landscape Services for helping us paint and spruce up the staircase at Yeo’s building, and all those who have helped us.

Finally, a huge thank you to our wonderful and oh-so-dependable volunteers, for their time, energy, love and support.
